Sustainability

At National, we recognize the constantly changing environment.  In order to maintain and preserve that world around us, sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do.

Sustainability goes beyond products to include ecological, economic and social aspects. We were “green” before being green was even cool.

Our commitment is demonstrated by our support of green building initiatives as well as our repurposing/recycling projects.

In 2003 our corporate headquarters was built with sustainability in mind. In order to continue being a leader in the wallcovering industry, we made a decision in 2008 to pursue LEED for existing buildings certification for our corporate headquarters.

We achieved an extraordinary Gold level LEED certification for existing buildings in 2011.  We were one of the first to achieve this designation in the state of Arkansas and the only wallcovering company in North America to be headquartered in a LEED certified building.

Becoming LEED certified assures the public that our company as a whole not only meets but exemplifies sustainability for our wallcovering products.

We were also one of the first companies to certify our products to NSF 342 sustainability standards in the wallcovering industry.

We’ve offset 100% of our corporate headquarters annual energy use with green-e certified off-site renewable wind energy for the past 11 years.

In 2018, National’s waste minimization program repurposed 1,199 total pallets, electronics, printer cartridges, alkaline batteries and fluorescent lamps.

The Majority of what we repurpose is discontinued or material that does not pass quality inspection.  98% of it goes to Nigeria, where it is used as wallcovering, fencing for cattle, fencing for construction, schools and made into women’s handbags and belts.

Our goal in 2020 is to continue to be a leader the commercial interior products industry, while being a good employer, protecting the environment, and ensuring a bright future for generations to come.

Hello to whom this may concern,

I am a project engineer with Jackson Contractor Group here in Bozeman, Montana. We are working on a University Project with is LEED V4.1. We are using your Woodlands Edge Wall Covering on this project and I need some assistance finding documentation. For our LEED Low Emitting Material Calcualtor, we are required to indicate and document the Low Emitting Criteria in which this product has been tested. If you have any documentation regarding LEED (HPD, EPD, VOC Testing, etc.) please let me know.

    Thank you,
